Celebrating Women in Business: BLACE and Reposite Team Up to Honor Female Leaders during Women's History Month

Highlights

Women have been fighting for equal rights for well over a century, and as female-led startups in the event production industry, BLACE and Reposite are no strangers to this adversity. In honor of Women’s History Month, we teamed up to celebrate by creating an event that would shine a spotlight on the many brilliant women in our field. The event was an engaging networking opportunity, which brought together colleagues from the events industry for a night of fun at The Mailroom.

If you missed the party, don’t worry!

In this blog we’re going to share about the amazing women-led vendors we hired (you’ve got to check them out!).

We’ll also tell you all about the mouth watering savory canapes and delicious themed drinks provided by female-founded catering company Herb-n-Peach (like the Original Suffragette cocktails, the Sisterhood Spritz, and the RGB Ginger Smash…keep reading for recipes).

But first, we want to share a few fascinating statistics we should all be aware of. We hope this information will inspire women to take more seats at the Founder table and encourage more VC’s to invest in women.

Stats You Need to Know about Women in Business*

  • In 2021, 49% of startups were formed by women.

  • Only 2.5% of startups have solely female founders.

  • Since 2016, startups founded by women have received only 4.4% of venture capital backing.

  • 14% of startups have a female CEO.

And our personal favorite:

  • Women-founded startups get less than half the funding as startups founded by men, but they generate 10% more income in a five-year period.

Now, about those Suffragette Cocktails

Thanks to Ally over at Herb-n-Peach, we got to enjoy some wonderful on-theme drinks – we hope you’ll join us in the spirit of celebrating women by trying these yourself:

More Brilliant Women-Led Contributors

Female-founded furniture and décor supplier, RentQuest, led by the innovative Vanessa Cancilla Casa, provided luxe furniture for our guests to lounge on. As we gathered on RentQuest’s one-of-a-kind couches and chairs, we connected with each other through networking prompts provided by the female-founded creative experience experts: 28 Muses.

DJ Ayanna of Jordan Kahn spun all night playing funky disco beats and iconic women's ballads that we know and love. With AV and lighting provided by Premier Innovations.

Guests left with custom tote bags by women-founded print company, Aslant Printing.

The crowd oohed and aahed over the can-can and fan dance presented by female-founded entertainment dance company Jenny Rocha’s Painted Ladies.

Flowers provided by the talented Big Apple Florist.

See below for the complete vendor list & their contact information.

Our Women’s History Month event was definitely a night to remember – and we can’t wait to do more events to bring together the people in our industry.

Make sure you are on our mailing list and we’ll see you at the next one.  Cheers!
